Bedtime is the Hardest Time

The hardest time for me

Is going to bed

Without you.

I thought I would keep you out of my bed.

We’d discussed this.

It could only lead to

Trouble down the road.

But how could I deny you?

And so you entered–

Causing not so much trouble

As cramped quarters.

Let’s face it–

You loved to snuggle,

Especially with me.

And now I lie here alone,

Looking at the ceiling

While the tears make their way

Down my face and

Onto my pillow.

Bedtime is the hardest time

Now that you are gone.

Notes: No notes this time. I’m pretty happy with this one.
